Yesterday evening opened the last exhibition of Igor Mitoraj’s sculptures and paintings. This time the place is really suggestive: Pisa miracle square, just in front of the famous leaning tower. the exhibition is dedicated to the figure of the angels and is formed by drawings , paintings, plasters, bronzes and iron sculptures.
We collaborate with Igor Mitoraj for 30 years and speaking , as usual, in a technical way, what is interesting for me is the use of the finishing and patinas . it can happen that a Mitoraj’s patina requests several weeks to be ready. Maestro comes to us several times always saying what to add or erase : sometime a layer of patina, sometime some lampblack, sometime he simply say to wait for the next rain to wash the sculpture. the result is always technically interesting and aesthetically perfect.
i cannot judge artistically the work of maestro Mitoraj, but if you pass from Pisa and have some time i suggest you to go see the exhibition , it will not be lost time.
best regards
